The creative theory behind the development of the Leicester Tigers foundation monument established 5 primary objectives and one outstandingly important overarching theme.

1. To recognise and respect the soldiers of the Royal Leicestershire Regiment who played for Leicester Tigers and lost their lives in the two world wars.
2. To commemorate the soldiers from the Leicester Tigers regiment who have played for Leicester Tigers since their formation in 1880
3. To emphasise the strength of bond between the Royal Leicestershire regiment and Leicester Football club (The Tigers) their heritage and history.
4. To act as an interactive gateway to the monument website and downloadable app, enabling the public to research the social history and heritage of who these people were, what the individuals achieved and what became of them. Lest We Forget.
5. To use the world of rugby to connect with the international rugby family across all countries. Through the heritage , history, sacrifices and challenges faced in life comes the inspiration for future generations across all cultures through sporting achievement.

Our overarching theme is of all inclusive participation. Our monument is a destination to inspire all communities to get involved in sport. It acts as a point of reference to focus the great work of the Leicester Tigers foundation. It provides the platform to link communities worldwide through sport. It becomes a centre for inspiration for the future promoting women’s rugby, disability sport, wheelchair rugby and encouraging people to get involved.

The Leicester Tigers Foundation, its monument and accompanying website and app aims to use the power of the Leicester Tigers brand to deliver programmes encouraging physical activity, health, education and well being. Through these programmes we aim to raise awareness and inspire people to new heights of achievement.

The Leicester Tigers Foundation delivers over 1 million coaching hours into the community each year. The monument will connect it to inspire the world.
